Farmers Market Salad – August 2011

Farmers Market Salad

Finally, things are coming in at the farmers market here in Placerville! Fresh tomatoes, fresh greens, green beans, and potatoes!  This is the perfect season to make the Farmers Market Salad from  This is one of our favorite summer salads, which stands in for a main dish for us.  Everything in the salad is fresh, well, except for the olives, and the flavors just meld together perfectly.   Although it calls for new baby potaotes, I think any type of home grown potato that exhivits those tender almost sweet qualities will work.

We paired this with both Madrona Chardonnay’s (yes, both!), and it worked beautifully.  The rich fruity characters of the chardonnay match beautifully with the bold flavors of the dressing which are softened by the potatoes.  We hope that you enjoy!

This is one of my favorite recipes for summer. If you are local, I recently saw beautiful potatoes featured at Raleys from a local farmer that would be beautiful in this salad!
